Cozy Backyard Nuptials With A Cocktail Style Wedding Reception
Look out, sunbursts and moonbeams! Stephanie + Rob’s backyard nuptials with a hyggelig cocktail style wedding reception is bringing this natural palette to the center of our universe in ways we could never have imagined. An ombre floral arch ceremony backdrop courtesy of Gypsy Floral – fairtyale swing in tact. A well-curated hodgepodge of midcentury furniture from velvet armchairs and brass slatted dining chairs to rattan nest lounge chairs and countoured white Eames chairs envelope this intimate neck of the woods in a casual, yet posh design concept only Lovely Day Events could pull off. In fact, the whole wedding mood felt warm and familiar. Guests arrived to the site of the backyard ceremony, fuzzy moss aisle and all. They watched Stephanie + Rob exchange the sweetest, most heartfelt vows. And then they partied footloose + fancy-free amidst vibrant lounge vignettes, a fancy barista bar and hand-painted cookies modeled after their Frenchie in the darlingest cocktail style wedding reception we ever did see! The entire backyard bash was evidenced by Julie Wilhite Photography, whose electrifying documentation of the day will forever make us smile.
From the Planner, Lovely Day Events: Stephanie and Rob’s intrinsic playful natures were mirrored in their whimsical and chic backyard wedding! We wove vibrant hues of goldenrod, tangerine, and baby sweet pea throughout their wedding design, from the bridesmaids’ mismatched gowns to the organic floral arrangements that dotted every cocktail, coffee, and dinner table.
Every component of Stephanie and Rob’s wedding was thoughtfully crafted to be unconventional, both in design and structure. Since we held their nuptials in the backyard of their home, we needed to maximize the space to utilize for both the ceremony and reception. Therefore, we curated a cocktail-style wedding with various lounge areas, scattered high and low cocktail tables, and just a handful of traditional table settings.
Both cozy and vibrant, the velvet mismatched lounge furniture came in exquisitely rich tones of orange, mustard yellow, peacock blue, and jade green. We incorporated fun textures by setting wicker-backed chairs, glass-topped coffee tables, and tribal patterned shag rugs.
The focal piece of the wedding design though was the ceremony arch. With pink and orange blooms cascading down either side, the arch had an ombre effect to its colors. The floral was interspersed with wild bunches of baby’s breath and even some twigs to give it a whimsical vibe. Hanging from the center of the arch was a simple rope swing. Last but not least, we covered the aisle in rich, earthy moss, lending depth to the design.
During the reception festivities, guests indulged in four different flavors of cake, including an almond cake with raspberry filling and lemon cake with lavender buttercream filling. Not to mention the specialty coffee bar and cookies designed to look like Stephanie and Rob’s own Frenchie!
Three cheers for this cozy backyard wedding with the most vibrant palette of yellow, pink and green we ever did see! We utterly adore Stephanie + Rob’s offbeat approach to traditional wedding design and cannot imagine a more creative, fun or whimsically chic energy than this.
