Sweet Beach Wedding
This charming wedding comes all the way from Brazil. Sharon is a wedding photographer whose work I’ve been following for quite sometime now, and when I saw her own wedding photos I jumped at the chance of sharing them with you. Even more exciting was to hear that she’s been reading Ruffled for wedding inspiration. Woo!
From the bride, Sharon: Fernando and I met on April 2008 while I was shooting his brother’s wedding. We joked around with each other, but nothing else. At the time I was dating someone else and never imagined what was about to happen! We saw each other again around the time I was delivering his brother’s wedding album and exchanged online chat usernames. We started to talk to each other and only six months after his brother’s wedding we had our first kiss. We’ve been together ever since. Then we got engaged, bought an apartment and set the date for Valentine’s Day. (in Brazil, Valentine’s Day is June 12).
Our wedding was very simple but full of love. I made pretty much everything myself. From the invitations to the decor, from the bouquet to the menus. My mother made the brigadeiros (Brazilian mini chocolate candy) that are the best in the world! My friends helped fold the 1000 paper cranes (or tsurus), that the Japanese folklore says we get a wish for each 1000 origami cranes.. We had a Celtic ceremony, a ritual connected with nature that includes everyone in the bridal party (in Brazil, the padrinhos). Fernando and I each read a letter saying what the other means to us and it was very emotional. Get married at the beach was a dream and I am very happy to have pursued it till the end. We feel very connected to nature and the ocean.
The reception was simple and the photobooth was very popular. At the end of the night Fernando and I danced to a choreographed Can’t take my eyes off of you by Damien Rice. We had fireworks and my little brother, Allan, played a song on the violin as a surprise for me đŸ™‚

This wedding is beautiful..Wow! I’m in love with everything about it from the colors, to the handmade beauty, and the location. I’ve always loved nature and it’s my dream to get married by a some type of water and woods.

I really want cotton bolls now.. But I can not find a place that sells them. Does anyone know of a place online that ships or a place near washington dc that sells them?? Thanks!!
Wow! I love the bride’s bouquet- what a fantastic idea. I also think the dessert buffet is amazing, with all the colors and the birds, is very whimsical and unique.
Beautiful dress, love the accent of black! All the colours look great in the dark with the lights!
This is a gorgeous wedding and the couple look so incredibly in love in their first dance photo.
Terrific wedding! Love the use of cotton!
I love the keys — where are they from??
Oooh I love that cotton bouquet–the black ribbon adds a lot of drama too. SO not your typical beach wedding and I mean that in the best way!
Where did the white rabbits come from? I love them.
Loved the photos! Where was the party located in Ubatuba? We’re looking at renewing our vows a. Would love to find a qualit beach side location that can host. Obrigado !
