FIRST DATE & PROPOSAL
It’s important not to judge a book by its cover or a date based solely on the way it ends. Evelyn and Tate had a lovely first date and, by the end of the evening, were quite taken with each other. However, as they said goodbye, in a moment of somewhat awkward panic, Tate offered a departing fist bump. Not one to give up on a good thing, Tate texted Evelyn to say he had a great time. She responded with a fist-bump emoji.
Many dates later, the couple hiked to Sunset Rock, where Tate asked Evelyn to spend forever with him. Given the town of Highlands where their ceremony would take place, she, of course, said yes! They would agree that the charming mountain town would ultimately be the perfect place to tie the knot in the presence of their friends and family.
IN PREPARATION
They knew they wanted an Appalachian wedding with a warm, cozy feel. With family in South Carolina and Ohio, Highlands made for the perfect mountain midway point. The adorable invitations from minted welcomed their guests for a winter wedding scheduled for January. She said yes to an Allure dress found at the Coastal Knot bridal shop in Raleigh. Evelyn’s bridesmaids wore striking solid color dresses from Bella Bridesmaids, each with a unique texture and fur accent.
The couple found beautiful rings from Diamonds Direct, and Evelyn wore earrings from Gilded Bridal. Their rehearsal took place at Skyline Lodge in Highlands before they moved to a Wedding Eve celebration at The Ugly Dog Public House downtown. Toward the end of the evening, Evelyn gifted Tate with a striking Raymond Weil watch.
THE BIG DAY
As if they had planned it from the moment they knew their love was forever, fluffy white snow fell silently from the sky in approval of their union. Evelyn’s make-up was crafted by Flawless Airbrush and her hair was done by Michelle Loftis. The bridesmaids and groomsmen enjoyed the photos taken by 1828 Collective amidst the falling snow before celebrating with the happy couple at the Farm at Old Edwards. Serrano Film Co. masterfully captured the magical scenes on film. Katie of Katie Brooks Event Co planned the perfect ceremony and reception, ensuring every moment was as magical as the setting.
The freshly fallen snow made for a surreal winter backdrop, with Dream Events By Daria providing the florals that added a pop of color to the stunning scenery. After officiant Chris Robinson pronounced their marriage, they posed for a fist bump photo in the aisle, reminding those in attendance that sometimes forever can begin with an awkward moment.
As the wedding party and guests moved to the Pavillion for the reception, the roaring fire and florals on the mantle crystalized the cozy mountain feel the couple wanted. Their closest family and friends celebrated their new covenant after a wardrobe change for the bride. Evelyn felt her Mac Duggal dress was too fancy for the rehearsal dinner, but the sparkles and embellishments were just right for the reception.
Their unique cake, supplied by Walnut Street Bakery in Seneca, South Carolina, had a layer of salted caramel and a layer of sweet potato. It was a hit for the couple and the guests. Music was supplied by Carolina Music Planner and DJFWB. The couple departed to start their forever amidst the snow and sparklers.
