Cara + Andrew’s Modern Farm Wedding

This handmade wedding is so much fun! Cara and Andrew made almost everything themselves, from their programs to music, they handled it all. Thanks to the talented Amanda from Orchard Cove Photography for sharing their images with us today!

A little bit from the bride, Cara:

We started the process of planning everything with guest list and budget and worked from there. We also made a list of the things we thought we could do ourselves and made a timeline. It was decided that we would do our own music and DJ station. Andrew is an audio engineer and musician. I would design the invites, programs, place cards. Because the place cards doubled as the favors I wanted to spend some time designing them to make them special. Each place card was an envelope with a card explaining that we had given money to Oxfam in our guests’ honor.

Clothes
My dress came randomly from a little boutique in San Francisco called Haute Bride.

I went home for Christmas and met my parents in the Bay Area. The dress is a Caroline Devillo. Its end of season, right off the rack. I went to one store and tried on five dresses. This was dress number four. I walked in there with pictures of tea length dresses, so I was surprised when this long A-line column dress was pulled out of the rack. I put it on and it was just the color I wanted and if fit so well. And then the sales girl showed me its special feature. The skirt came off at the knee. I totally feel in love and my mom and I bought it right away. I found a wonderful, sweet seamstress locally who altered the dress to fit me perfectly. I brought her a few yards of fabric and she made my sash too.

Andrew’s suit is from Banana Republic and his tie was ordered from a shop in Scotland. His parents had been there a few years earlier and bought a two-year old’s kilt in the old Sutherland tartan. Andrew’s niece was wearing that kilt as our flower girl. The tie is made from the exact same tartan.

Check back in a few for part II of this creative and crafty wedding!
